TAKE ACTION,
NO MORE MATERNAL DEATHS IN YUCATAN

María Ligia’s human rights to life, to health protection, and to be free of torture and cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment were violated. The State is responsible and must provide full compensation for the violation of the human rights of María Ligia and her family.

The National Human Rights Commission issued a recommendation on June 17, 2014 (24/2014), which has now been accepted by the state. The Commission has, however, not actively followed up the recommendation.

No woman should die for preventable reasons. No woman should suffer violence.
